About
Philipp Ammon started his photography career as a student of fine arts and education in Toronto, Ontario. His interest in performance studies pushed him towards trying to capture the performative nature and culture of music on film.
He started working for a small but growing cultural paper called Sound Pollution. The project was the initiative of a local radio station to document and facilitate the growth of the independent music scene in Toronto.
Philipp has won the Photo Portrait of the Year Award from Excalibur Newspaper in Toronto and received an Honorable Mention in the Microsoft Future Pro Photographer Competition 2008. His image “All that Remains” appeared in the September/October 2008 issue of Digital PhotoPro magazine in the United States.
He has lived in Germany as well as Canada, and between 2009 and 2011 his teaching career also led him to living in the UK and Japan. He is currently an MA student in the Photojournalism program at London College of Communication.
